A  BRIEF REPORT  ON THE “SEED BALL PROGRAMME”                                                                                                                                                                                               Date:10.06.2018

Navodaya Vidyalaya  Samiti  has taken up the noble mission of increasing the green cover of the earth which is the need of the hour. As it was initiated in 2017, the programme received a great response from all the JNVs of Karnataka. This year also it was carried out with enthusiasm. As per the letter received  from the Regional office, seeds of various trees were procured from the forest office, Mysore. cow dung was collected from the nearby farmer and red soil was  taken from the campus only. Students had an experience of mixing mud, water and cow dung, making the seed ball. They  prepared around 3000 seed balls in the first week of June so that they dried to the extent required. Forest officers regularly visited the Vidyalaya and extended every support.

The dispersal of seed balls was done on 10-06-2018. Stage programme was conducted  from 10-00 am to 11-00 am. Shri Devaraj , Range Forest Officer and Ms Mahalakshmi , Forest Officer were present on the occasion. Shri Devaraj spoke on the importance of protection greenery  and increasing the green cover of the earth. Smt Jayabharathi K, TGT Science briefed the gathering on the initiatives taken by the vidyalaya towards the noble mission of enhancement of greenery in and around the campus and also outside the  campus. She explained the support and guidance from the Samiti in making this mission a resounding success. Shri M.S. Lava Kumar, PGT Biology, coordinated the programme.

After the stage programme, seed balls were dispersed inside and outside the campus with help and guidance of forest officials. All the staff and students participated in this seed ball drive with great interest and enthusiasm. There was a plantation programme also.Smt. R. Anuradha,  Principal, Shri Samuel Navneeth Raj, vice principal, staff and students planted saplings. Shri Dr . Kumar, Deputy Commissioner, NVS, Patna Region, who was present on this occasion was very much impressed with this greenery initiative and he too planted saplings. Thus the programme culminated with a satisfaction of doing a good deed and serving the Mother Earth by protecting the Nature. Plants were allotted to individual students to be taken care of.
